:lightbulb: Have you heard about these :new: contests?

Transliterations: Modernising Myths:new: So it's Valentine's Day here and I'm off to buy shoes to go with my posh frock for my fancy dinner because blue moons just come around sometimes, but I thought I'd pop in to remind you that there's approximately forty-eight hours left to submit something for the contest. So to all you stragglers, you revisers and last-minute magic-makers, you photo finishers: pull all the stops out, stop arsing about and get those entries in. Think of it as a Valentine's gift to words.
At the request of participants and for the sake of my own failing sanity, the Modernising Myths Contest will be extended by ten days. This means that the new deadline is February 15, giving you until the day after Valentine's Day to complete your entry--and if you still need more time, I suggest cancelling your Valentine's Day plans and finishing it then. Because we all know you love writing more than you love your partner. And if they're reading over your shoulder, I'm sorry, but they had to know som
FAN ART CONTEST - more prizes and first entries! The contest

Winter has always been a season which people either love or hate. No matter where we live we always have some strong emotions connected with it and a lot of them revolve around... snow!
Some love it, some hate it; some play with it creating snowmen, others do everything to get rid of it; some see it all year long and some can only dream about it.
Because of how many different emotions we connect with snow and how many uses it has it's a perfect theme for the promised fan art contest!
Your task is to create a fan art or fan fiction that will present your favourite character(s) interacting with snow.
Rules
:bulletblue: Every entry should revolve around the "snow" theme. The more original you are, the better!
:bulletblue: The work must be a Fan Art / Fan Fiction and it should be submitted into the Fan Art

Six Word Story Contest - 7 3Mo.Subs to be won!A type of Flash Fiction, six word stories are (very) short stories with an exact word count: six words. SixWordStories is the place where, alongside quality, quantity really does matter. Though these stories are so brief in length, they can be as profound, if not more, than the prose and poetry you see and read every day, partly because six word stories can tell us so much and yet contain so little.
As a Group, we encourage writers to explore their boundaries with prompts, collaborations and more, but we accept anyone and everyone too! Whether you are a digital artist, photographer, or something else entirely, if you can string six words together into a story, this is the place to be!
So getting to the point of this article, we are kickstarting this year with a six word story contest! We have some awesome prizes and hopefully enough freedom for you to enjoy yourselves too! :la:Please support the contest and :+fav: the article so that more can join in on the fun! :dalove:

DeviantART Role ModelsAll of us on DeviantART have special people in our lives that we especially look up to. Whether it is a family member, or close friend and confidant. Perhaps it is a person we laugh with from time to time who may not even realize how much they have impacted us. Or, maybe it is someone who has touched our life in such a tremendous way that it is forever changed. Sometimes, we forget to tell or show them how important they are to us. Oftentimes, those unspoken moments between loved ones matter most and a little positivity goes quite a long way. So, what better time than right now to take a moment or two to tell someone else how much they mean to you?
ProjectPositivity Is Looking For A Few Special Deviants…
Our primary mission over at ProjectPositivity is to continually promote our members deviations by encouraging all of them to consistently create positive self images. In this manner, we hope to further unite together with a common cause: celebrating our

Blind Winter Poetry ContestThe Blind Winter Poetry Contest
With the winter comes a specific sense of appearance, be it snow, a frosty window and a fireplace, or blistering sun, the beach, and a cool drink. No matter where the location, the season brings a certain sense of familiarity...and we're challenging you to reconsider that familiar scene!
The Prompt:
The prompt, should you choose to take it on, is to write a poem about winter as you know it. The challenge, however, is that you can't use the sense of sight within the poem. Deprived of sight, you'll have to rely on your other four senses as a means of describing winter as you know it.
The Rules:
:snowflake: Only new poetry will be accepted for this contest, so no recycling older works as entries.
:snowflake: All entries must be posted to the Literature gallery (not Scraps), though any subcategory in the poetry category is allowed.
:snowflake: Entries must be no longer than 50 lines.

Your Traditions Prose ContestThis season is full of tradition. Be it caroling, cookie-making parties, pub hopping through hot summer nights, or ringing in the New Year by running barefoot through cornfields full of snow, there are moments we all look forward to each and every year. But each an every celebration is unique, and we want to hear your story of the season.
The Prompt
The prompt, should you choose to take it on, is to write a nonfiction story about your specific seasonal traditions. We want you to ditch the Christmas and New Years cliches everyone knows about Christmas (Santa, Rudolph, he ball drop, etc) and focus on the small things that are the strongest about the season to you.
The Rules
:snowflake: Only new nonfiction pieces will be accepted for this contest, so no recycling older works as entries.
:snowflake: All entries must be posted to the Literature gallery (not Scraps), though any subcategory in the Nonfiction category is all

Complaint Challenge Contest - Extended!Update:  Deadline Extension
New deadline:  February 10th at 11:59 PM EST!
I could use an extra week before judging, and my poll suggested people could use a little more time than that. I've decided to extend the deadline by 10 days.
Don't forget you must note me your entry to be eligible for prizes. I know I saw some floating around. I do need an official entry note! You may find these other reminders helpful:  http://fav.me/d4mk8a6
If your entry is not in this folder, you are not confirmed and should contact me:  http://thorns.deviantart.com/favourites/47897505
If you have questions, or needed help, and I haven't fully helped yet, NOTE ME ASAP. If I haven't responded I misplaced your messages. (I know there is definitely one I cannot find.) I apologize and would be appreciate a reminder.

Anniversary ContesttheWrittenRevolution is now two years old! As a tribute to how far we've come and to kick-off our future decades as an active and radical center for young writers, we're hosting our BIGGEST CONTEST YET.
At some point in the future, we plan on becoming an independent, not-for-profit online writing website, a place where members can share their written work in an artistic fashion, as well as give and receive critique to help them improve their abilities. An aspect of that organization that we are rather enamoured with is publishing compilations of our members' best pieces.
Here's where it starts: we've decided to put together an eBook of the thirty best entries to this contest.
Maybe you're not that impressed, you're thinking, "It's just an eBook, no big deal." We get that. But this is just the beginning. We have to start somewhere, right?
The Contest
We have prepared five themes and ten vignettes for you to choose from. You may use any of these to

:lightbulb: Congrats to theWrittenRevolution on a Challenge Completed!

52 Week Challenge (final feature)Last year, theWrittenRevolution and SixWordStories joined together to offer writers a unique challenge: writing a six word story complying with the prompt given by SixWordStories every week.
The challenge itself is much more than it might have seemed during the first weeks; putting together a story, using such a limited amount of words is as intriguing at first as it's difficult when actually working on it. And we can say that many of the prompts were definitely challenging!
It's been interesting to see each different interpretation for the prompts and the participation being higher or lower depending on the nature of the prompt, too. Each was something we'd have never thought about, and that reminded us how writing is totally subjective and amazing – from the same hat, each participant took out a different animal, like any skilled magician should be able to. :eyes:
We can say little apart from asking you to congratulate all the participants and their effor
Featured Members of 2011It's hard to believe that we've gone through the entire year, but it's true. A lot has happened this year – on deviantART, within theWrittenRevolution and out in the real world. As we embrace the new year, many people are reflecting on the events and changes that 2011 brought. As a group, on of the ways we're celebrating 2011 is by looking back at our Featured Members from the past year. Each week, a different admin chose and featured a different deviant that stood out both as a member of the group and as a talented writer. We've seen an enormous variety of people who all have a unifying passion for the written word. Kind of like the group itself, no?
We're planning a chat event in the next couple of weeks in which we will invite all of our past Featured Members to share their techniques and advice with other writers. We'll write another blog when that's ready to go.
Without further ado, we are thrilled to present to you some of the best writers on deviantART in 2011!
